Performance measures are data metrics defined and tracked by city departments to measure the city government’s effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery. Data for the performance measures are derived from the biennial Resident Survey as well as department data tracking systems. Each performance measure is connected to one of the strategic goals and objectives that the City has defined as a high priority. The performance measures will be reviewed and refined annually to ensure they are representative of the priorities set out by City Council and the community.

This dataset provides information about parking citations issued in Norfolk. The dataset includes the date and time the citation was issued, the violation description and status, where the citation was issued, the license plate number of the vehicle, the make and style of the vehicle, and the amount of the parking citation fine. The dataset covers the period of January 1, 2022 to present and will be updated monthly.

Bike and pedestrian counters have been installed at six locations along the Elizabeth River Trail and at 15 locations along Norfolk’s existing bike lanes to accurately track pedestrian and cyclist use along the trail and bike network. This counter system combines the passive infrared sensor to count pedestrians on the adjacent sidewalk and an inductive loop sensor to detect bicycles in existing bike lanes. This dataset comprises data from two types of counters – Eco-Counter and Roadsys. The Eco-Counter data begins in April 2019 and is updated quarterly. The Roadsys data begins in April 2021 and is updated quarterly.
