Public art is artwork in public locations where everyone can see and enjoy it.
Norfolk is among the great cities that use public art to inspire, educate, beautify and give character to public places. The Public Arts Commission together with city staff, developed policies for the development of artwork that creates a unique image and sense of place for Norfolk. This dataset is a compiled list of existing public art recorded by Norfolk

The Norfolk Animal Care and Adoption Center (NACC) is the city’s animal sheltering facility. The NACC is an open-admission shelter; animals are never turned away, regardless of species, age, health or temperament. This data reports on an animal from the moment it arrives at the shelter (intake) to the moment it leaves (outcome). It also reports on foster activities.

This dataset provides data about the assets that are managed by the Division of Fleet Management. Assets fall into two categories: vehicle or equipment.

Fleet Management uses a point system that considers a variety of factors to determine which assets are recommended for replacement. An asset with 15 points or higher is recommended for replacement.

This dataset provides information about all Neighborhood Quality code enforcement open and closed cases along with their associated inspections, violations, and status information. All Neighborhood Quality data is collected and reported from the Neighborhood Quality code enforcement office.
Neighborhood Quality code enforcement’s mission is to maintain and strengthen neighborhood standards. The City of Norfolk’s approach to code enforcement is to use all tools to achieve compliance. These tools include educating civic leagues, citizens, and the public in understanding the scope of enforcement. Other tools are working with homeowners to help establish timelines for projects, and legal steps for abatement. This data entered will reflect that workflow of a responsive customer-oriented organization using tools to accomplish compliance. This web-based tool consolidates entry of Code Enforcement cases to one central application in correspondence with this initiative. All codes cited are from the city of Norfolk’s Codes Chapter 25 which covers Vehicle and Property and Chapter 27 which covers nuisances.

Norfolk Community Services Board (CSB) is the primary provider of public mental health, substance abuse, intellectual /developmental disabilities and substance use disorder in Norfolk, VA. The continuum of services provided by the CSB spans from outreach and prevention through intensive psychiatric care. CSB services are provided by clinical service professionals with expertise in these service areas.

This dataset is a monthly breakdown of certain services that CSB provides Norfolk’s residents. These services include mental health, developmental, substance abuse, and emergency services. These services do not make up all the services that CSB provides, that include services such as infant and toddler and specific grant-funded services. A total hourly duration for the month is provided, as well as details on the type of service that was provided. This dataset will be updated monthly.

Pace Bike share launched in March 2018 in Norfolk, VA. A system of 250 smart bikes available for the Norfolk bike share program. The Pace program is a 3rd party application that allows riders to reserve and use a bicycle in Norfolk at a low cost. This dataset is a record of all Trip Path Data in the 2018 Pace Bike season for the City of Norfolk.

The city, through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), is the direct recipient of $154,141,050 in State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF). This dataset contains information on the status of City Council approved projects that were made possible by SLFRF. The data comes from the city’s financial system AFMS and city staff. The financial data will be updated daily based on activity in the city’s financial system, AFMS. The remaining data will be updated monthly.

This dataset contains the American Community Survey (ACS) five-year estimates for Norfolk, Virginia. According to the United States Census Bureau, the ACS is the premier source for detailed population and housing information about communities and the nation. Every year, the Census Bureau conducts a survey and creates estimates for demographic categories such as income, employment, poverty, race, ethnicity, housing, age, gender, internet access, vehicle access, and other topics. For census tracts, 5-year estimates are generated and released to the public.
This dataset includes five-year estimates released in 2020 for census tracts in Norfolk, VA and will be updated annually with each new release of five-year estimates.

This dataset contains Decennial Census data for Norfolk, Virginia. Every ten years ending in 0, the United States Census Bureau conducts a census to determine the number of people living in the United States. The release of data includes counts for population, race, ethnicity, group quarters, and housing units. This dataset contains data for all of Norfolk, VA.
