This dataset uses U.S. Census table B17020 - Poverty Status by Age
The data shows the number of people per locality, the overall number of people living below the poverty level per locality, and then the number of people under age 18 living below the poverty level per locality. This last data element is broken down into three segments - aged <6 years, 6-11 years, and 12-17 years, which when added together equal the total number of children under age 18 living below the poverty level per locality.

From the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service at the University of Virginia the "Demographics Research Group produces the official annual population estimates for Virginia and its localities; conducts practical and policy-oriented analysis of census and demographic data under contract; and communicates rigorous research and its policy implications to clients including state and local governments, employers, non-profit organizations, and the general public, through meaningful, intuitive publications, and presentations."

This table lists the overall population of each Virginia locality, as well as a breakdown of each locality's population by race. Each column's description explains the race identification. In addition, for each locality, there is a column for those who identified their ethnicity as "Hispanic or Latino Origin."
Please see note from the Census Reporter regarding race in Census data:
Census data about race is complicated. While casual language and even much reporting proceeds as if each person had exactly one race, the Census Bureau allows each person to select as many as six race options, one of which is simply "some other race." Furthermore, "hispanic/latino" is not a race, but a characteristic tracked independently. Note that hispanic respondents disproportionately choose "some other race alone": nationwide, more than 25% of hispanics make that choice, compared to a fraction of a percent of non-hispanics. (https://censusreporter.org/topics/race-hispanic/)

"ATSDR’s Geospatial Research, Analysis & Services Program (GRASP) created Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Social Vulnerability Index (CDC SVI or simply SVI, hereafter) to help public health officials and emergency response planners identify and map the communities that will most likely need support before, during, and after a hazardous event.
SVI indicates the relative vulnerability of every U.S. Census tract. Census tracts are subdivisions of counties for which the Census collects statistical data. SVI ranks the tracts on 15 social factors, including unemployment, minority status, and disability, and further groups them into four related themes. Thus, each tract receives a ranking for each Census variable and for each of the four themes, as well as an overall ranking."

This table uses U.S. Census data to create a dataset that identifies all Virginia localities as either Mostly Urban, Mostly Rural or Completely Rural. Total population and breakdown between urban and rural populations are included.
For information on the U.S. Census Bureau's use of these designations see https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/geography/guidance/geo-areas/urban-rural.html. (Source data for this dataset is found at this link and is titled "County Classification Lookup Table [XLS]".)

The Food Access Research Atlas:
Presents an overview of food access indicators for low-income and other census tracts using different measures of supermarket accessibility;
Provides food access data for populations within census tracts; and
Offers census-tract-level data on food access that can be downloaded for community planning or research purposes.

What can you do with the Atlas?
Create maps showing food access indicators by census tract using different measures and indicators of supermarket accessibility;
Compare food access measures based on 2019 data with the previous 2015 measures;
View indicators of food access for selected subpopulations; and

2013-2020 Virginia Disability Characteristics by Census Tract. Contains estimates and margins of error.
Special data considerations: Large negative values do exist (more detail below) and should be addressed prior to graphing or aggregating the data. A null value in the estimate means there is no data available for the requested geography.
A value of -888,888,888 indicates that the estimate or margin of error is not applicable or not available.

Supporting documentation on code lists, subject definitions, data accuracy, and statistical testing can be found on the American Community Survey website in the Technical Documentation section. (https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/acs/technical-documentation/code-lists.html)
Sample size and data quality measures (including coverage rates, allocation rates, and response rates) can be found on the American Community Survey website in the Methodology section. (https://www.census.gov/acs/www/methodology/sample_size_and_data_quality/)
Although the American Community Survey (ACS) produces population, demographic and housing unit estimates, it is the Census Bureau's Population Estimates Program that produces and disseminates the official estimates of the population for the nation, states, counties, cities, and towns and estimates of housing units for states and counties.
Data are based on a sample and are subject to sampling variability. The degree of uncertainty for an estimate arising from sampling variability is represented through the use of a margin of error. The value shown here is the 90 percent margin of error. The margin of error can be interpreted roughly as providing a 90 percent probability that the interval defined by the estimate minus the margin of error and the estimate plus the margin of error (the lower and upper confidence bounds) contains the true value. In addition to sampling variability, the ACS estimates are subject to nonsampling error (for a discussion of nonsampling variability, see ACS Technical Documentation https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/acs/technical-documentation.html). The effect of nonsampling error is not represented in these tables.
