Bike and pedestrian trip counters have been installed at specific locations along the Elizabeth River Trail and elsewhere on Norfolk’s bike network to accurately count pedestrian and cyclist use along the trail and bike network. This counter system combines the passive infrared sensor and an inductive loop sensor; an intelligent subsystem analyzes the signal from both sensors in order to count and classify each user. This data begins in April 2019 and is updated weekly.
This dataset contains information about all of the registered borrowers from Fiscal year 2016 though 2018 for Norfolk Public Library. This includes all active accounts that have been verified and approved by library staff annually.
Please Note: InterLibrary Loan (ILL) - was previously housed at Kirn/Slover and each borrowing library was issued a unique account. They now use a special ILL application that doesn't require those accounts.
This dataset provides data about the city’s mowing schedule that is managed by the Bureau of Parks & Forestry Operations. Mowing locations include medians, parks, schools, vacant lots, and various other city properties.
This dataset begins in Fall 2019 and will include three years of data. The schedule is updated during three growing seasons: Spring (updated at the beginning of March), Summer (updated at the beginning of June) and Fall (updated at the beginning of September). Please note: all scheduled dates are subject to change based on weather.
This dataset provides data from MyNorfolk, a citizen services portal that delegates and tracks requests and questions about the city of Norfolk and the services we provide to our residents, businesses, and visitors. Data for the service requests is collected from phone calls, emails, an app for smart phones and on-line. The portal is managed by the Norfolk Cares Center; its mission is to provide a single point of contact for visitors, residents, businesses and city staff to request a city service, report a concern, seek information about Norfolk, or follow-up on a previous request for service.

This dataset provides data from the Norfolk Division of Neighborhood Quality’s code enforcement cases including associated inspections, violations and status. The mission of the Division of Neighborhood Quality is to maintain and strengthen neighborhood standards. Staff use a variety of tools to achieve compliance including educating civic leagues, residents and the public about neighborhood quality. Other tools include working with homeowners to establish timelines for projects or pursuing legal steps for abatement. This data reflects the workflow of a responsive customer-oriented organization.
The Norfolk Animal Care and Adoption Center (NACC) is the city’s animal sheltering facility. The NACC is an open-admission shelter; animals are never turned away, regardless of species, age, health or temperament. This data reports on an animal from the moment it arrives at the shelter (intake) to the moment it leaves (outcome). It also reports on foster activities.
As of October 30, 2019, this data set will no longer be updated. A new citizen request app, called MyNorfolk, has been implemented and data from that app is available in this Open Data portal.
The Norfolk Cares data set provides data from the IMPACT System. The data was collected by phone calls, emails, iPhone requests, and on-line requests. This data set includes service requests from November 2014 to October 2019.
This dataset provides information about parking citations in the city of Norfolk.
Data provided about the citations includes: time and date issued, violation type and code, location, state of vehicle registration, license plate numbers, make, model, and color of the vehicle, amount of parking citation fine.
