This dataset provides data from the City of Norfolk’s violation tracking system. Violations originate from complaints reported by citizens and Norfolk staff, or by inspections conducted by Norfolk staff. The Department of Neighborhood Services and the Department of City Planning notify property owners of violations and provide information on how to abate the violation and bring the property into compliance. The goal of pursuing compliance is to strengthen neighborhood standards and improve property health and safety. Types of ordinance violations may include property issues such as tall weeds and grass, trash and debris, inoperable vehicle, general zoning violations, parking in residential areas, electrical or mechanical violations, plumbing violations, and others. This dataset includes a rolling three years of data and will be updated daily.
