Bike and pedestrian counters have been installed at six locations along the Elizabeth River Trail and at 15 locations along Norfolk’s existing bike lanes to accurately track pedestrian and cyclist use along the trail and bike network. This counter system combines the passive infrared sensor to count pedestrians on the adjacent sidewalk and an inductive loop sensor to detect bicycles in existing bike lanes. This dataset comprises data from two types of counters – Eco-Counter and Roadsys. The Eco-Counter data begins in April 2019 and is updated quarterly. The Roadsys data begins in April 2021 and is updated quarterly.

Every ten years ending in 0, the United States Census Bureau conducts a census to determine the number of people living in the United States. The release of data includes counts for population, race, ethnicity, group quarters, and housing units. This dataset contains data for all of Norfolk, VA.
